Our Policies

General Policies

  • For everyone’s safety, please keep your pup on a leash or in a carrier when entering and leaving the salon.
  • To keep our environment safe and healthy, we may need to decline service for dogs who aren’t up to date on vaccinations, show signs of illness, or display reactive behavior.

Vaccination Policy

Your pup’s health and safety are our top priority. We require all dogs to be up to date on their Rabies vaccination before their grooming appointment. The vaccine must be administered at least two days before your visit.

Check-In & Check-Out

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you’re more than 15 minutes late, your groomer or bather will determine whether the full service can be completed, a modified service can be provided, or the appointment needs to be rescheduled.

Give us a quick call and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

  • Bath services usually take 2–3 hours, and grooms 2–4 hours, depending on your dog’s coat, behavior, and condition. Some dogs may need extra time.
  • Please pick up your pet promptly to help keep our environment calm and stress-free. Your groomer will give an estimated pick-up time and a 20–30 minute heads-up when your dog is ready. A $50 late fee may apply for pick-ups after closing.

Cancellation Policy

We totally understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance so we can offer that spot to another pet in need of pampering. We provide a 72-hour courtesy text message reminder in advance for your convenience.

  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments may incur a $25 fee. We understand emergencies happen, but repeated late cancellations or no-shows may affect future bookings.

Safety & Special Handling

Your dog’s comfort and safety always come first. For everyone’s protection, our team may use humane safety tools, such as muzzles, slings, cones, or loops, when necessary. Please let us know if your dog has a history of biting, aggression, or stress around certain grooming procedures. Your pet’s safety and our safety is our top priority.

  • We’ll always be gentle and patient, but if your dog is stressed, reactive, or unable to stay still, we may modify or stop the service to prevent injury. Some procedures may be better handled by a veterinarian.
  • Senior pets receive extra care, but grooming can still be stressful. We’ll adjust or stop the groom if needed for their well-being. Please inform us of any health issues in advance.
  • A special handling fee may apply for extra time and care.

Re-Bathing Policy

Please make sure your pet has had a potty break before their appointment. Grooming can take anywhere from 2–4 hours. If your dog goes potty during the groom and needs to be re-bathed, up to a $20 re-bathing fee may apply.

Fleas & Ticks

If we discover fleas or ticks during your dog’s appointment, a special shampoo Fleas & Ticks bath will be provided to protect your dog’s health and maintain salon hygiene. This service is done at the groomer’s discretion and billed to the pet parent.

Matted Coat Policy

Dogs with severe matting need extra care, as mats can pull on the skin, restrict circulation, trap moisture, and hide skin issues or parasites. For your pet’s comfort, Pawssentials will not forcefully de-mat severe mats. In many cases, shaving is the most humane option.

Removing severe matting carries risks, including nicks, cuts, scrapes, hematomas, or minor behavioral changes. Severe matting also requires additional time and causes extra wear on equipment; a fee of $1 per minute will apply.

Regular grooming every 4–8 weeks helps prevent matting. By proceeding with services that require shaving due to severe matting, you acknowledge and accept these risks. Our goal is always a safe, low-stress grooming experience, and we’re happy to help with coat care between visits.

Right to Refuse or Adjust Services

Our groomers and bathers are trained professionals who always have your dog’s best interest at heart. We reserve the right to modify or stop a service if your pet becomes reactive, overly stressed, or if continuing the service could cause harm.
