Terms and Conditions

By scheduling a service with Pawssentials, you acknowledge and agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.

1. Client Disclosure

By choosing grooming or related services at Pawssentials, the pet owner (“Owner”) confirms that all information provided about their dog—whether written or verbal—is accurate and complete. Owner affirms they are the lawful owner or authorized guardian of the pet. Each time a dog is brought to Pawssentials, the Owner reaffirms that the pet is in good health, up to date on required vaccinations, and has not shown signs of a contagious illness within the past 30 days.

2. Assumption of Risk & Release of Reliability

Owner acknowledges that Pawssentials’ groomers and staff are not veterinarians and do not provide veterinary medical services or diagnoses. While we maintain a clean and closely supervised environment, Owner understands that no facility can completely eliminate the risks of injury, stress, or transmission of airborne viruses or communicable conditions between dogs.

By using Pawssentials’ services, Owner accepts these inherent risks and agrees to hold Pawssentials, its employees, agents, and representatives harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses related to injury, illness, or other conditions that may occur during or after grooming. This includes, but is not limited to, incidents resulting from transport, handling, or interactions with other pets.

Owner accepts full responsibility for all costs associated with bringing their dog to and from Pawssentials. Risks may include, but are not limited to, falls, slips, bites, allergic reactions, or property damage. Owner voluntarily releases and forever discharges Pawssentials from any liability or claim related to these services, including those that may arise from ordinary negligence.

3. Medical Attention

If Pawssentials determines that a dog requires medical attention, we will make every effort to contact the Owner immediately. In an emergency, or if contact cannot be made in a timely manner, Pawssentials is authorized to seek veterinary care at its discretion.

Owner authorizes Pawssentials to act in the dog’s best interest, including transport to and from a veterinarian, and agrees to cover all associated costs. Pawssentials and its staff will not be liable for the outcome of any medical treatment performed by a third-party provider.

4. Abandonment & Extended Stay

If a pet is not picked up by the agreed-upon time, an overnight boarding rate may apply. Pawssentials will make reasonable efforts to contact the Owner or emergency contact. If no communication is received and the pet remains unclaimed after 14 calendar days, the pet will be considered abandoned under California law. In such cases, Pawssentials will follow appropriate procedures, which may include contacting local authorities or animal services.

Owner acknowledges that pet abandonment is a serious matter and may be subject to civil or criminal penalties.

5. Behavior & Responsibility

Owner is solely responsible for their dog’s behavior and actions while in Pawssentials’ care. This includes any injury or damage caused to another pet, person, or property. If a dog displays aggression, severe anxiety, or unsafe behavior, Pawssentials reserves the right to refuse, modify, or discontinue services for the safety of all pets and staff.

Owner agrees to indemnify and hold Pawssentials harmless against any claims, costs, or damages resulting from their dog’s conduct or from incomplete or inaccurate information provided about their pet’s health or temperament.

6. Photos & Media Release

Owner grants Pawssentials permission to photograph or record their dog for use in marketing materials, social media, and other promotional purposes. These images become the property of Pawssentials and may be edited or published without compensation. Owner waives any rights to royalties or future approval of such materials.

7. Payment Policy

Payment is due in full at check-out, prior to the release of any pet. Pawssentials accepts cash, credit/debit cards, and Pawssentials gift cards. A valid payment method must remain on file to secure appointments.

Returned checks are subject to a $50 fee. Accounts with outstanding balances after 30 days may incur 1.5% monthly interest. If collection efforts become necessary, Owner agrees to pay all related costs, including reasonable attorney and collection fees.

8. Agreement & Arbitration

This document constitutes the entire agreement between Owner and Pawssentials and supersedes any prior understanding. Its terms are binding upon all heirs, representatives, and assigns.

Any disputes arising from this agreement—including those involving alleged negligence—shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in a court of competent jurisdiction. Both parties waive the right to a trial by jury and consent to the personal jurisdiction of California courts for enforcement of this agreement.
